Ex Ghana player Charles Kwablan Akonnor has been named the new head coach of Guinea.
He signed a three year deal that will last till 2022.
He beat off competition from various high profile coaches including EPL title winner Claudio Ranieri.
Guinea Football Federation will announce his appointment today.
The Ghanaian is replacing Paul Put who was sacked for his poor performance at the just concluded AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
Coach Akonnor has coached top Ghana Premier League clubs namely Hearts of Oak, Dreams FC, Ashanti Gold SC, Asante Kotoko and relegated club Sekondi Eleven Wise.
His last job was with Asante Kotoko, where he won the GFA Normalization Committee Special Competition.
Coach Akonnor first match for Guinea will come in November when he go against Mali in the AFCON 2021 Qualifier.
