Sherifatu Sumaila emerged Player of the Match in Black Queens win against Algeria Featured

The Black Queens' enterprising midfielder was adjudged the best player in Ghana's opening game win against the Les Verts of Algeria. The LA Galaxy Orange attacker assisted Ghana defender Gladys Amfobea's thunderbolt of a strike which earned Ghana the solitary goal in the game and Ghana's first three points of the tournament.

Sherifatu was vying for the honour with the goalkeeper for Algeria Takenint who stood between Ghana and goals in the early exchanges of the game. Sherifatu excelled on the flanks as she created a lot of goal scoring opportunities for the Queens to score which was not utilised effectively. The only goal of the game came on the 13th minute through Lady Strikers right back Gladys Amfobea.

The Black Queens are scheduled to play Mali next, Mali lost by two goals to one (2-1) against Cameroon.
